One of my first fun character roles was as Antonio, the drunk gardener in Mozart's Il Nozze di Figaro. We sang it in English, however. It was double cast, but since my part wasn't all that big I got to perform with both.
Later (see 1987) the Dorian Opera Workshop used a photograph from the production for a promotional brochure. I ended up requesting an audition, and got one.
