Into the Woods 2005

Right around my birthday in 2005 I had met a woman online at Match.com. We hit it off and started dating. Junel was living in Sparks at the time, and I remember driving up there for the weekends and working on the MIDI for Into the Woods. To incorporate more dancers into the show, Dave had them also become parts of the set, a tree for example. The program I saved seemed to be missing a couple of pages so I don't have a cast list.

The artwork for our poster was done by Michelle Cornair and the graphic design was by Ginger Janssen.

Faculty Recital 2005

In 2005 I did a faculty recital called The Best of Rodgers and Hammerstein and asked Saundra Chaon to perform with me again to which she graciously agreed.

Sound of Music 2004

Tahoe Arts had become the Nevada Civic Light Opera and their first show was The Sound of Music in the fall of 2004. They asked me to do the vocal direction and also play the role of Max Detweiler, a great character part. It was fun playing opposite of Cindy Sabatini as the Baroness. Suzie Tagayev was also able to persuade Charmian Carr, Liesl in the movie and also Brian Farnon's daughter, to join us for a gala fundraiser. We got to meet her afterwards and chat for a while.

We got great publicity for the show probably because Charmian was making an appearance.

Suzie then persuaded Caesar's Tahoe to take on the show and after about a month we opened up there in November.

We also got nice review from Ira Townsley in the Action.

I found these pictures on Suzie Tagayev's Facebook page.

These two were of Max and the children rehearsing and playing.

Guilty Pleasures 2004

Round three of Guilty Pleasures took place in the Summer of 2004. I mainly remember having to leave before the end of the run because my grandmother had passed away and I had to catch a flight back to the Midwest for her funeral. I'll post a program if it turns up. The poster is below along with a nice little blurm from the Action.

We did the traditional cast photo out in front of the Theatre.

Lysistrata's War 2004

Dave Hamilton and I had started working on our next creative project which was a through-composed rock opera based on the Greek play, Lysistrata. We called our version Lysistrata's War. We produced it at the college in the Spring of 2004. Since I had midied the score I was also able to pop on stage for a cameo as the Terrorist, who comes on stage at the very end and tries to kill Lysistrata.

Ginger Janssen created another one of her cool posters.

We got some great publicity in the the Tahoe Tribune.

In addition, Catherine Abel of The Mountain News and Keith Rugg of the Action both gave us favorable reviews.

Kurt Munger's set was massive.

Faculty Recital 2004

For my faculty recital in 2004 I decided to revive a program I had done at Millikin back in 1990 that I had called The Golden Age of Musical Theatre.

Salli and I had a lot of fun with it, and we got a nice little blurb in the Tribune.

Passion 2003

Tahoe Arts produced Stephen Sondheim's Passion at Piper's Opera House in the Fall of 2003. Piper's is in Virginia City and is a wonderful and historic venue. Suzie Tagayev directed and played the part of Fosca. Saundra Chaon played Clara, and I did the vocal direction and played the part of Giorgio. Dave Hamilton and Kurt Munger from LTCC were also part of the cast. I think doing the show at Piper's had something to do with that. This is one of the few shows where I don't seem to have a program. Lev had also gotten one of those souvenir "fake news" papers.

Joy Michiel gave us a nice writeup in the Tahoe This Week.

I do have lots of photos from this production.

Guilty Pleasures 2003

Guilty Pleasures had been well-received when we opened the previous summer. Dave updated the script and we added some new songs.

Ginger Janssen provided a new poster with a similar design as the original but with updated fake quotes. The Action also had a little blurb on us.

There was a great review of the show in the Tahoe Daily Tribune.

We also did a similar cast promo shot.
