Camelot 1994

One of my favorite roles ever was King Arthur in Camelot which was produced by Western Nevada in the spring of 1994. I played opposite Laura Rawlings as Guinevere who had also been Mabel in Pirates the previous summer. August Stoten played Lancelot.

Stephanie got the Horizon Casino up at Lake Tahoe to allow us to perform a weekend of shows in the Grand Lake Theatre which apparently was the same theatre at which Elvis used to perform when he came to Lake Tahoe. Sadly, it was later made into a movie theatre and then replaced entirely. Stephanie kindly gave me a copy of the large poster which I had framed and which still hangs on my wall.

We got some great publicity and a nice letter to the editor from an appreciative patron.

We had done a photo shoot out by a building with a castle feel that was at the Stewart Indian School south of Carson City. I had lifted up my left arm and was supposed to be pointing and gazing off into the distance. I later called it my Arthur pose. "In short there's simply not a more congenial spot for happily-ever-aftering then here in Camelot."

I also have vague memories of helping work on the set pieces to make the styrofoam we used for the castle walls resemble stone. The costumes were great as well. I even got to wear "armor."
